A special issue of Pharmacology Biochemistry and Behavior
scheduled for publication in October 1999 will focus on drug discrimination.
The issue will contain papers related to talks presented at last
year's SSPD meeting in Beerse, Belgium.
Do you want to be PRESIDENT?
SSPD is soliciting nominations for president. The president-elect
will serve a 1-year term beginning in January 2001. A ballot will
be sent to all members later this fall. Please contact Jenny Wiley
or Charles France for further information or if you or someone you
know would like to be on the ballot.
$$ Dues Notice $$
Have you paid your dues recently? In order to facilitate dues collection,
the officers of SSPD are recommending a change in the system so
that annual dues will be due on November 30 each year. Dues are
$20 USD for regular members and $10 USD for students. Members who
paid at any time last year will not owe dues again until November
1999 (mailing label has "1999" beside your name). If you did not
pay last year, dues for 1999 are due now. Year 2000 dues will
be due by November 30. Please send a check in USD to Jenny
Wiley. We are proposing that anyone who does not pay dues for
two consecutive years will be dropped from the membership rolls
in order to avoid expenses associated with maintaining contact with
persons who no longer have an interest in our field. Further discussion
of this proposed new policy will occur at the Miami Beach business
meeting. If you are not a member, but received this newsletter and
would like to join, send a summary of your research interests and
recent publications to Jenny Wiley at the address listed on the
first page on this newsletter. Applicants for student membership
need to send a letter from their advisor / sponsor verifying student
status.
During the next few months, we will be updating our mailing
list with the goal of printing a new membership directory. Please
check your mailing label. Is your address correct? Have you moved?
Since we would like to include e-mail addresses in the new directory,
please send your e-mail address and any snail mail address changes
to Jenny Wiley. Your prompt
response is appreciated.
