Please note that this will be the first year that
the newly formed Division of Behavioral Pharmacology will participate
in the ASPET meeting. Also note that the Behavioral Pharmacology
Society (BPS) organizes a meeting in Boston on June 2-3, immediately
before the ASPET meeting. Consult the ASPET home page (http://www.faseb.org/aspet/)
or contact Jonathan Katz (jkatz@intra.nida.nih.gov)
for program details of special interest to behavioral pharmacologists
and neuropharmacologists, and contact Jack Bergman (jbergman@hms.harvard.edu)
for information about the BPS meeting.
BOSTON 2000
Greetings. You may have read some exciting things
about Behavioral Pharmacology in the most recent issue of The Pharmacologist.
Among the most important news items is that the Division will sponsor
several symposia of particular interest to behavioral pharmacologists
at the Pharmacology 2000 meeting that will be held in Boston on
June 4th through 8th. The preliminary program is out now, and if
you don't have one you can get one for the ASPET office [phone:
301/530-7010] or you can check the ASPET web site for information
[http://www.faseb.org/aspet/].
The Symposia at ASPET of particular interest to behavioral
pharmacologists include:
- The role of cannabinoid receptors in multiple brain processes.
- Understanding the behavioral consequences of gene manipulations:
Integration of genetically engineered animal models into behavioral
pharmacology research.
- Protein based pharmacokinetic antagonists for the treatment
of drug abuse.
In addition to the ASPET Meeting, the Behavioral Pharmacology Society
[BPS] will be meeting in Boston on June 2nd and 3rd. And as you
know, SSPD will hold a satellite meeting during ASPET on the also
be meeting in Boston on the evening of June 7th. So, there's going
to be several days in Boston full of good behavioral science on
the effects of drugs.
Hope to see you in Boston!
