Special Issue of Psychopharmacology on the Stimulus Properties of Drugs2008 represents the 30th year of the Society for Stimulus Properties of Drugs. SSPD was founded in 1978 by Don Overton, Herb Barry, and John Rosecrans and others with the first official meeting of the new society being held at the meeting of the Committee for Problems on Drug Dependence (CPDD) in Baltimore that year. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of SSPD a meeting is planned for this fall in Washington, D.C. The meeting will be held as a satellite meeting of the Society for Neuroscience meeting as has been the tradition for a number of years. In addition, a Special Issue of Psychopharmacology on the Stimulus Properties of Drugs is being planned to coincide with this celebration. If you would like to submit an article of original, unpublished empirical studies for inclusion in this Special Issue, please send either an abstract or a description of the article to Joseph H. Porter (jporter@vcu.edu) in the next couple of weeks. This Special Issue will also include several invited reviews, so if you plan to write a review article, please send a description outlining the scope of review so duplication can be avoided. We are looking for research articles of ca. 15 text pages or, alternatively, for integrative scholarly review articles of ca. 25 text pages. These pieces would be submitted to editorial evaluation by us (Klaus A. Miczek, Editor, Joseph H. Porter and Adam J. Prus, Co-Editors) and other colleagues through the normal Psychopharmacology submission process. The instructions for authors which are readily accessed at link.springer-ny.com/link/service/journals/00213/ should be followed. The first of May 2008 should be the final receipt of submissions to this special topic issue. Additional details about the 30th Anniversary Meeting of the Society for the Stimulus Properties of Drugs will be forthcoming soon. In the mean time if you have questions or suggestions please contact Joseph H. Porter, President of SSPD at jporter@vcu.edu.
